Gears of War received a fan update - with local co-op, content, and improvements
GoW fans decided to improve the PC version of the game on their own.
In June, Gears Of War fans released an unofficial “community patch” for the first PC installment. Their project aims to add content and improvements to the game that were missing from the original release.
For example, modders added official maps from Gears of War 2, as well as custom maps. Horde (Horde and Horde+) and King of the Hill, Guardian, and TDM modes are available. The ability to play the campaign in co-op on one screen and local multiplayer (Split-screen) has also been implemented.
In addition, modders have improved artificial intelligence – enemies will act smarter. Players will also be able to customize bot difficulty in all multiplayer modes.
Technical improvements are also present, for example, support for DirectX 10 and DirectX 11, and ultrawide monitors 21:9 / 32:9 has been implemented.
The “Gears Of War Redux” modification is distributed free of charge via Nexus Mods.
Currently, The Coalition studio is developing a new installment of the Gears of War franchise: E-Day. The game is planned for release in October of this year. Chronologically, this part will be a prequel.
