"Where's the yellow paint?": In God Of War Laufey, there are no hints on the rocks - a fan found a lore-based explanation for this
Some players are concerned that navigation in God Of War Laufey might be difficult.
Recently, Santa Monica Studio unveiled God Of War Laufey. Players examined the first frames of the game, and some noticed the disappearance of a characteristic environmental detail. They assume that the developers abandoned the use of marks on the rocks that guided players along the location.
A user under the nickname JaxTheNukaEXE shared their theory, which may explain the absence of such marks from a lore perspective. In God Of War Laufey, players take on the role of Laufey (Faye), Kratos's wife. After her death, she enters another world where she would not have been able to leave marks in advance:
After watching the trailer a few times, I noticed that the marks that tell you where you can climb and all that are gone. This makes sense from a lore perspective, because in GoW Ragnarok and God of War 2018, these marks were left by Faye herself. I thought that was an interesting detail!
cabezahuevo55 joked: "How will I know where to go if the yellow paint doesn't highlight the path?", and started a discussion about accessibility settings.
Sometimes players can get lost on a level if developers don't highlight the route for them. One popular marker is bright yellow paint, but sometimes it doesn't look very appropriate.
Some members of the God of War community expressed the opinion that visual cues, such as paint or marks, should still be in games, but as an option — in which case people who might find these elements distracting would have the opportunity to simply turn them off.
