According to Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier, Sony intends to focus on the exclusivity of its major story-driven projects for PlayStation consoles.

Schreier reported that the head of Sony Interactive Entertainment's business group, Hermen Hulst, stated during an internal meeting with employees a few weeks ago that the approach to PC releases would change. According to him, the company concluded that the previous strategy did not meet expectations.

Their story-driven single-player games will remain PlayStation exclusives. The reason is that PC releases have been inconsistent, haven't generated enough revenue, and Sony wants to keep its franchises closely tied to its own platform.

These comments came shortly after an interview with Sony Interactive Entertainment President Hideaki Nishino for the Japanese publication Famitsu. The executive confirmed that the choice of platform would depend on the specifics of each game.

According to Nishino, Sony will continue to consider releasing projects on PC when it improves the user experience. However, for internally developed single-player games, the company intends to pay more attention to the unique capabilities of the PlayStation ecosystem and strengthen the value of the console version.

At the same time, the strategy for live-service games will remain unchanged. Sony considers it important to expand the audience for multiplayer projects, so simultaneous releases of such games on PS5 and PC are still considered a standard approach.
