Astro Bot surpasses 4.3 million copies sold and earns $250 million
In the first nine weeks after its release, the game sold 1.5 million copies.
According to estimates from the analytical company Alinea Analytics, total sales of Astro Bot have already reached approximately 4.3 million copies. This has allowed the game to generate about $250 million in revenue. Moreover, over 600 thousand copies were sold this year alone, which, according to analysts' calculations, provided almost $33 million in revenue.
The exact budget for Astro Bot is unknown, but the project significantly differs in scale from most modern Sony blockbusters. Completing the main campaign takes about 12–15 hours, and studio head and creative director Nicolas Doucet has repeatedly emphasized that the team deliberately avoided artificially stretching content.
One of the success factors may be Astro's Playroom — a free platformer pre-installed on every PlayStation 5. For many console owners, it became their first introduction to the Astro character and a kind of demonstration of the system's capabilities.
