Recently, the developers of Halo: Campaign Evolved published answers to frequently asked questions, and users noticed a nuance related to local co-op. It seemed that to play in splitscreen mode, one would not only have to buy a PlayStation Plus subscription but purchase it for two accounts at once.
This caused significant dissatisfaction online. Developers from Halo Studios soon issued a refutation. They explained that the previous statement was erroneous and that players do not actually need a PlayStation Plus subscription to play in local co-op:
We mistakenly stated that PlayStation Plus is required for local cooperative splitscreen play. A PlayStation account is required for each player to play in this mode, but a PlayStation Plus subscription is NOT required for this.
Players withdrew one complaint, and some even changed their minds about canceling their pre-order, but there is still another reason for dissatisfaction — for co-op to work, players not only need to log into their PlayStation accounts but also link them to Microsoft accounts. This requirement is very unpopular with community members, and they do not understand why they should log into third-party services.
