Modder Specilizer is developing a multiplayer mode for The Last of Us Part II.
The modification, scheduled for release in September, includes a full lobby system and several maps for battles. Players will have access to both completely original locations created specifically for the mod, and maps based on levels from the story campaign.
The project's development began in January of this year and became a kind of response to the cancellation of The Last of Us Online. According to available data, the official multiplayer project was about 80 percent complete at the time of its closure. The game had already formed a dedicated community of testers, many of whom were fans of the multiplayer mode from the first The Last of Us.
Specilizer's YouTube channel has published a whole series of videos dedicated to the modification's development process. In them, the author elaborates on the technical difficulties and reasons for creating the project. After several months of work, the multiplayer for The Last of Us Part 2 already looks almost ready for launch and is generating great interest among fans of the series.
