After the release of the Stellar Blade: Blood Rain trailer, disputes arose online regarding the main character's design. Some believe she looks very young, and creating revealing outfits for her would be inappropriate.
Recently, gamers noticed that a petition "against the sexualization" of the young heroine in Stellar Blade: Blood Rain was launched on change.org. The petition's creators introduced themselves as "fans" of the original game and stated that "many players" feel uncomfortable with the developers' approach to depicting such a young heroine, which is similar to the first part (revealing outfit + body physics):
While we support creative freedom and the original [Stellar Blade]'s approach to depicting attractive adult characters in revealing clothing, applying similar revealing outfits and body physics to a [young character] causes serious discomfort for many players.
The petition's authors proposed two paths for the Stellar Blade: Blood Rain developers: maintain the "young" design – in which case they must "guarantee the absence of revealing or highly provocative outfits" and remove body physics. The second option is to adjust the design so that the heroine "is perceived as a young adult [girl]."
At the time of publication, the petition had only 41 signatures. According to comments, some users misunderstood the petition's purpose and signed it by mistake.
Previously, information appeared online that certain activists were trying to deal with Stellar Blade: Blood Rain by complaining to payment system operators VISA and Mastercard.
