A whole era in the modding community recently passed. The developer under the nickname CryZENx, who had been developing a remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for about ten years, announced the closure of the project.

However, it's not about Nintendo's lawyers — CryZENx did not receive DMCA strikes (for copyright infringement); it was his own decision. Now the modder is thinking about the next projects he could work on, and is conducting a poll among players:

I want to do several projects to feel more confident and stable in everything. How do you feel about me working on several things at once and switching between them from time to time? What do you think about this? I don't want to focus on just one project — that's my idea right now, but it's important for me to hear your opinion.

Among the options are working on MDK, Turok, Twilight Princess, Donkey Kong 64, Metroid Prime Hunters, Sonic Adventure.

CryZENx's remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time was one of the most famous fan projects associated with this Nintendo franchise. The modder's video diaries gathered millions of views. Nevertheless, his legacy will remain online: players can still download various demo versions of the remake released over the years.

CryZENx's decision to close the project, in essence, is a preemptive move. This month, Nintendo announced an official remake of Ocarina of Time, meaning there was a high risk that lawyers would finally decide to deal with the modder.
