Diablo IV developers have unveiled the novelties of the upcoming 14th season, dubbed "Season of the Death's Awakening." The ARPG will feature a crossover with another Blizzard Entertainment game, as well as a battle pass with rewards, a "Self-Found, Solo" mode, and various activities.
For example, "Pandemonium Rifts" will begin to open throughout Sanctuary. They can appear anywhere, but will be more common in Helltide areas. The longer a rift remains open, the more rewards players can earn for closing them. Among the rewards will be special materials called "Glimmers of Hope," which will allow players to unlock rewards on the reputation board in Zarbinzet:
To craft epic unique items in the Horadric Cube, you will need Pandemonium Shards – materials that can be obtained from the reputation board or by defeating the seasonal boss in their lair.
"World-shredders" will return to Sanctuary. They will emerge from the most dangerous Pandemonium Rifts, challenging the players who opened them. The developers stated that the likelihood of encountering a world-shredder depends on the type of rift:
- Normal Rifts: World-shredders do not appear.
- Gaping Rifts: A world-shredder may appear if the player completes the rift event with a bonus.
- Colossal Rifts: A world-shredder always appears when the rift is closed.
Players will also be able to clear a small dungeon called the "Grave Hall," which consists of a single chamber:
To enter it, defeat a world-shredder or close enough rifts created by breaches in a nightmare dungeon with the "Rift" property. Once in the hall, complete a special task to receive even more rewards.
Diablo IV will feature a crossover with Overwatch – developers have shown character skins designed in the style of the online shooter. After the season begins, players will be able to earn "Overwatch Eye" currency by defeating special monsters and guardian monsters; this currency is used to obtain cosmetic items.
The start of Diablo IV's 14th season is expected on June 30. The full description of the season is available at the following link — it has already been translated into Russian.
