Owlcat removed the launcher from the PC version of Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader - less than a day after launch
On June 22, Owlcat Games studio "pleased" PC fans with an update for Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader. The developers integrated a launcher into the game.
They explained that it would become "a hub to help you stay up-to-date with news and still quickly get into the game." The developers emphasized that this launcher would not affect user modifications, and players were also given the option to disable the launcher.
However, Owlcat fans were very displeased with the mere presence of a launcher. The studio noticed the negative reaction and soon announced that they were removing the launcher —
less than 24 hours had passed since its launch in Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader:
Lord-Captains, we heard your feedback and are rolling back the update that added the launcher. The game will revert to the previous version, completely removing all launcher-related changes. Thank you for your feedback and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused.
Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader fans thanked Owlcat Games for listening to them. The reaction to this decision was extremely positive, but some noted that after this incident, actions would be closely monitored. One community member, under the nickname Zampolit, suggested firing the person who initiated the launcher's launch and provoked a PR scandal.
