This month, modder xoxor4d released the second patch for his Grand Theft Auto IV RTX remaster. It fixes various technical issues and improves graphics.

The modder implemented an "anti-culling" system, which will render the map sector outside the player's camera with a minimal level of detail (LOD). According to xoxor4d, this will eliminate most cases of incorrect rendering of distant shadows.

A new system has also been introduced that renders high-detail objects located very close to the player outside the visible area. The modder explained that this prevents light sources from being disabled when they go out of view, as some of them are only tied to high-LOD objects.

xoxor4d said he tweaked the visual effects of raindrops and began replacing mesh fences with fully modeled fences across the map to improve performance (he explained that this requires less OMM / "opacity micro-map" construction).

The developer published several screenshots:

Currently, another fan-made remaster of GTA: San Andreas is in the works, being created on the GTA V engine. It is being developed by the creators of the acclaimed GTA Vice City Nextgen Edition.
