Star Wars: Galactic Racer's Story Mode Will Surprise with "Roguelike" Structure
The game will feature races in the style of Episode I: Racer and a story mode with a branching event map similar to Slay the Spire.
New impressions and gameplay details for Star Wars: Galactic Racer from Fuse Games have emerged. The game is already being compared to Episode I: Racer, released in 1999. An unexpected element was discovered in the story mode – a "roguelike" structure with a branching event map.
The story follows a mysterious character named Shade, who participates in the Galactic League for revenge. The path to the goal is not fixed: the story mode uses a map reminiscent of Slay the Spire, where the player chooses the type of events.
Options include classic races against 12 opponents or Field Test, where you need to beat the time on experimental vehicles. Completing these unlocks new locations and rewards: upgrade packs, credits, upgrade points, and vehicle parts.
The upgrade system allows you to change the behavior of the racing pod – from handling and defense to more complex modifications. However, some races will not yield rewards without a first-place victory.
Star Wars: Galactic Racer will be released on October 6 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
