Kadokawa has unveiled a new trailer for the anime "Sekiro: No Defeat," based on FromSoftware's hardcore action game Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. The new video announces a limited theatrical release and showcases the landscapes of an alternate Sengoku-era Japan, through which the stoic shinobi Wolf and his young lord Kuro travel. The trailer also includes short fragments of action scenes recreating iconic battles from the original game.

According to the official synopsis, the anime largely follows the plot of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. The story is set in the lands of Ashina twenty years after the swordsman Isshin Ashina seized power in the region through a bloody coup. Now, the state is threatened by the Central Ministry, and to save his homeland, Isshin's grandson, Genichiro, kidnaps the Divine Heir to gain forbidden power. The only hope for saving the boy is his loyal bodyguard — the silent shinobi Wolf.

The anime is produced by Qzil.la studio. The project's director is Kenichi Kutsuna, who previously worked on "The Fire Hunter," "Magical Destroyers," and "Love of Kill." The script was written by Takuya Sato, known for "Selector Infected WIXOSS" and "Fate/stay night." Character design is handled by Takahiro Kishida, who worked on "Haikyuu!!" and "JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind."

The premiere of "Sekiro: No Defeat" will take place in Japanese cinemas on September 4, 2026. The anime will later be released on streaming platforms, but the digital release date has not yet been disclosed.
