It turns out GTA VI is the cheapest game among modern installments of the franchise - a researcher calculated with inflation in mind
Previously, some players complained about the high prices of GTA VI editions.
Recently, Rockstar Games opened pre-orders for Grand Theft Auto VI. The base edition will cost $80, while the Ultimate edition is priced at $100. Compared to previous installments of the franchise, this might seem like a large sum, but if you look at these figures with inflation in mind, everything changes dramatically.
A user under the nickname GiveMeWaterPls presented calculations. After recalculating prices with inflation, it turned out that Grand Theft Auto VI is not just "cheaper" than some previous games, but actually the cheapest among modern installments (3D universe).
For comparison, GTA III used to cost $50, and with inflation today, that's about $94:
- GTA: Vice City — $92 (original price $50).
- GTA: San Andreas — $88 (original price $50).
- GTA IV — $95 (original price $60).
- GTA V — $86 (original price $60).
- GTA VI — $80.
One of the discussion participants recalled Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Prestige Edition — the edition cost about $150 in 2009, and with inflation, that's over $230 today.
The release of Grand Theft Auto VI is expected in November of this year.
