After the end of Destiny 2 support, a massive wave of developer layoffs began at Bungie. Former and current studio employees are posting farewell messages, and some are openly criticizing the company's management.

Former activity designer Blaze Markley wrote:

Despite everything, it was an honor to work on Destiny 2. Please know that all we ever wanted was to make you smile. See you among the stars, Guardians.

Former Senior Artist Lyndon Willoughby called working at Bungie a "dream," and QA Specialist Mikey "TehMidge" Perfected stated that it "was an honor" to work on his favorite game.

According to former Senior VFX Artist Artem Sorokin, "practically the entire Destiny VFX team, including all leads," lost their jobs.

Former Bungie Community Manager Liana Ruppert, who was laid off back in 2023, lashed out at management:

Incompetent management continues to receive awards, protection, and their golden toilets. I hope they get everything they truly deserve: guilt, shame, and hopefully, finally, some introspection.

According to media reports, the studio's head, Justin Truman, is also leaving. Sources believe that after the completion of Destiny 2's development, Sony planned a major reorganization of Bungie.
