90% Discount Breathes New Life into The Binding of Isaac

A 90% discount during the Steam Summer Sale set a new online record for The Binding of Isaac: over 109,000 people played it simultaneously.

Rarely does an indie game remain popular many years after its release. However, this is not the case for The Binding of Isaac, which is experiencing a new wave of success.

Edmund McMillen's game has surpassed the 100,000 concurrent players mark for the first time in its history. The peak online count has now reached 109,557 people. This is almost 40,000 more than the previous record of 69,000 and only about 6,000 less than Mewgenics' figure.

The reason for the sharp increase in interest was the Steam Summer Sale. The discount on The Binding of Isaac was 90%.

For a project released over a decade ago, such a result seems unusual. The continuous support for the game played an important role in its new wave of popularity.
