Koei Tecmo Games has officially confirmed the existence of a new, yet unannounced project under the working title FUJI. The information appeared thanks to a list of projects selected to participate in the government's IP360 program, published by the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI).

The IP360 initiative was launched in March 2026 and aims to support the creation of new Japanese intellectual properties in the fields of video games, manga, and anime. The program provides government subsidies and assistance in developing original projects, as well as promoting them in the global market to strengthen the Japanese entertainment industry.

According to the published document, Koei Tecmo received funding for "the development of a new game FUJI (working title)". While details about the project are scarce, the description reveals several important details.

FUJI will be a completely new intellectual property that will leverage Koei Tecmo's strengths in creating games with an Eastern aesthetic and dynamic action. The company expects to turn the project into a global hit and lay the foundation for the further development of the franchise beyond the game itself.

The mention of "Eastern aesthetics" and a combat system involuntarily brings to mind Koei Tecmo series such as Dynasty Warriors, Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, and Rise of the Ronin. However, since FUJI is a completely new franchise, the developers are likely preparing something different from their previous projects.

In addition to Koei Tecmo, other major Japanese publishers and developers, including Konami, Square Enix, and Sega, also received government support under the IP360 program. It is currently unknown when FUJI will be officially unveiled, but participation in the program indicates that the project is strategically important for the company and is aimed at an international audience.
