Capcom surprised by September's busy release schedule, but not worried about Onimusha: Way of the Sword's success
The game will be released on September 25 for PC and consoles.
Akihito Kadowaki, producer of Onimusha: Way of the Sword, stated that Capcom was surprised by the number of major game releases scheduled for late September, but does not believe this will negatively impact sales of the new action game.
In a new interview, Kadowaki admitted that the studio expected a busy release window, but did not anticipate it would be so packed.
We were quite surprised. We understood that many games would be released during this period, but we still didn't expect to see such a large number of major releases. We believe that one of the main advantages is our main character — Musashi, as well as the enjoyment of the combat system. The Issen mechanic, parrying, and other elements together create a truly unique and fresh gaming experience, so we are not worried.
In the same week as the new Onimusha, several projects will be released, including Dune: Awakening for consoles, Control Resonant, Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age – Definitive Edition, Hot Wheels Infinite Rush, and Silent Hill: Townfall. Within ten days before and after the release, Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave, RuneScape: Dragonwilds, Marvel's Wolverine, Ace Combat 8: Wings of Ikaruga, and Minecraft Dungeons 2 are also expected.
