Fans Show How Accurately Studio Trigger Recreated Night City in "Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2"
Recently, Netflix, CD Projekt RED, and Studio Trigger unveiled the second teaser for the anime "Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2". The one-and-a-half-minute clip introduces viewers to new characters, but fans' attention quickly shifted to familiar corners of Night City, which the creators transferred almost unchanged from Cyberpunk 2077.
One of the first to publish a selection of such coincidences was X user K_a_l_e_n_k_o. He compared frames from the teaser with screenshots from the game, showing how accurately Studio Trigger reproduced individual streets, buildings, and cityscapes.

Since the first season, released in 2022, Studio Trigger has earned praise from gamers for its attention to detail. However, behind such love for the source material lies not only the desire to please fans. The fully developed Night City from Cyberpunk 2077 is also a ready-made production base that animators can rely on. Instead of re-designing architecture, street layouts, and urban landscapes, artists can use the existing world as a foundation, focusing their efforts on scene staging, characters, and animation.

The second season will tell a completely new, independent story, unrelated to the tragic fate of David Martinez and Lucy. The plot will center on a new group of heroes: veteran solo Wick Kingsley, a netrunner obsessed with revenge named Dee, young cinephile Roman Carax, who prefers classic cinema to braindance, and Talia Young – a runaway from corporate towers whose heart now belongs to chrome and violence.
"Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2" will be released in autumn 2026 on Netflix. The season will consist of ten episodes, but the exact premiere date has not yet been revealed by the creators.
