Quantic Dream stated that the development of the RPG Star Wars Eclipse is proceeding as planned, despite employee reports of potential problems related to upcoming layoffs.
The discussions were sparked by a strike of workers near the company's headquarters in Paris. According to the French publication GameKult, employees protested against planned layoffs after the closure of the online game Spellcaster Chronicles.
Some participants in the action claimed that the reduction of about 115 employees could jeopardize the creation of Star Wars Eclipse. One of the developers stated that exactly this number of specialists is needed to complete the project, and the team is not "bloated."
However, in a comment to IGN, representatives of Quantic Dream categorically rejected such concerns. The studio emphasized that the decision to close Spellcaster Chronicles is solely related to the difficult situation in the online gaming market and does not affect the development of Star Wars Eclipse.
According to a company representative, the creation of Star Wars Eclipse "is proceeding according to plan," and the project team is fully staffed and has all the necessary resources to complete the work.
Quantic Dream also noted that the main focus is currently on supporting employees affected by the restructuring. Due to the ongoing process, the company declined to comment further.
Star Wars Eclipse was announced in 2021 at The Game Awards. Since the release of the debut trailer, the studio has shared almost no new details about the project, and its release date remains unknown.
