Total War: Medieval 3 Developers Reveal Starting Factions and Ask for Player Help
The developers of Total War: Medieval 3 have announced six confirmed starting factions and launched a forum poll for additional countries.
The creators of Total War: Medieval 3 presented six starting factions that will definitely be available at launch. The list includes the Kingdom of England, the Kingdom of France, the Anatolian Turks, the Byzantine Empire, the Kingdom of Jerusalem, and the Holy Roman Empire.
The authors explained their choice as follows:
We believe that all six factions fully meet our core criteria. These are some of the most famous and influential powers of that period. They will provide interesting and diverse gameplay, as well as offer unique mechanics. This set also ensures a good balance of power on the map.
The list is not yet final. A poll for additional factions that may also be included in the release version of the game has started on the official Creative Assembly forum . Among the candidates are the Kingdom of Poland, Hungary, Sweden, Scotland, and the Republic of Venice. Several countries that receive the most votes will be among the starting factions.
The developers also reported that the map in Medieval 3 will be roughly comparable in size to Total War: Attila, and religion will play an even more important role. The game is at an early stage of development, so the first gameplay will have to wait, and the release is not expected before 2028.
