Developers heard the community's request for a single-player mode.

Funcom studio published a dev diary dedicated to the upcoming update for Dune: Awakening. The developers talked about the new mode.

Upon first launching Dune: Awakening, players will be offered a choice between multiplayer and single-player modes. In single-player, three preset difficulty levels or full manual customization of individual parameters will be available.

The single-player mode will be very similar to multiplayer, but with a few differences:

  • All NPCs are present in the game, but there are no other players.
  • The Deep Desert is fully accessible with all its content and challenges, while the map does not reset, and player constructions do not disappear. The storm remains as a weather event but becomes less destructive.
  • In the endgame, the participation of other players in faction conflicts will be simulated, "maintaining competitive interest."

Players in Dune: Awakening will be able to customize various parameters, for example, disable sandstorms; switch the status of certain zones (make a zone entirely PvE or PvP); set experience and resource multipliers.
