Director Destin Daniel Cretton has released new photos from the set, offering a detailed look at Boomerang and one of the representatives of the Hand organization, believed to be the clan's leader. The posts appeared on social media as a tribute to the work of costume designer Sanja Milkovic Hayes, but only added fuel to fan theories.
The film's plot remains a closely guarded secret. However, the published photos show stunt doubles in costumes, not the actors themselves. In Boomerang's case, this only fueled the popular fan theory that MJ's new boyfriend, played by Eman Esfandi, is hidden under the villain's mask. Although the figure in the picture does not resemble the actor, fans believe that Cretton deliberately showed a stunt double to avoid revealing one of the plot twists.
The leader of the Hand organization raises no fewer questions. Fan Xiaoshuang, who previously worked with Cretton on the film "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings," served as the stunt double in her costume. However, it is not precisely known whether she is replacing an actress whose identity Marvel is currently concealing, or if she herself is playing the role of the new clan leader. Unlike Boomerang, who has deliberately not been shown in close-up until now, the appearance of the Hand's leader matches the images that appeared in previous film materials.
Boomerang and the mysterious leader of the Hand are far from the only secrets of the film. The most discussed mystery remains Sadie Sink's role, who, according to numerous leaks and hints, may play Jean Grey. Viewers will find out if these theories are confirmed on July 31, when "Spider-Man: A New Day" is released worldwide.
