TOHO has unveiled the first teaser trailer for the feature-length anime "The Apothecary Diaries: The Late Consort's Hidden Treasure" and confirmed that the film will be released in Japanese cinemas on December 11, 2026. Along with the trailer, new posters were published, and it was announced that Maria Ise will join the cast to voice the character Mu Qing.
Unlike the light novel adaptations, the film is based on a completely original story written specifically for the project by the original author, Natsu Hyuga. The plot sees Maomao and Jinshi travel to the southern lands to bring home the remains of a consort who died in the palace five years ago. What seems like a simple mission quickly turns into an investigation involving pirates, ancient mysteries, and the search for a hidden treasure.
The premiere of the feature film will take place between the two parts of the main anime series' third season. The first half of the new season will begin airing in October 2026, after which the show will go on hiatus and return with the second part in spring 2027.
TOHO animation STUDIO and OLM, who worked on the original series, are responsible for the film's production. It is currently unknown whether "The Late Consort's Hidden Treasure" will reach official Russian distribution.
