At Anime Expo 2026, the original anime series "Jurassic Shadows" was announced. Along with the announcement, the creators presented the debut trailer and the first poster for the project, promising viewers an unusual combination of ninjas, dinosaurs, and mystical action.
Norihiro Naganuma, widely known for the hit "The Apothecary Diaries," is serving as director. He brought several members of his former team to the new project: Yukiko Nakatani is responsible for character design, Misato Aita for color design, and Shoji Hata for sound. Kenta Ihara ("The Saga of Tanya the Evil") wrote the script, Yusuke Takeda ("Chainsaw Man") served as art director, and Shuhei Mutsuki ("Lycoris Recoil") composed the music. The animation production is handled by the young studio cannoncode, and the production committee includes SlowCurve and Avex Pictures.
For a long time, it was believed that dinosaurs disappeared after an asteroid impact led to their extinction. However, they secretly survived, passing their DNA to humanity through interbreeding. Hiding among ordinary people, they now hunt humans, remaining unnoticed in society. They are opposed by a secret order of ninjas who wield Ryugesho — a special pigment filled with ancient memories. Using this mysterious pigment, they awaken the power of dinosaurs within themselves and fight predators that threaten humanity. As dinosaurs begin a campaign to destroy humans, ninjas rise to stop them. The battle for the survival of two species begins.
The exact premiere date for "Jurassic Shadows" has not yet been revealed.
