Russian RTS Broken Arrow receives anniversary update, reuniting players - two "different games" merged into one

Testing the update took much longer than initially expected.

In early July, Steel Balalaika and Slitherine presented an “anniversary update” for the real-time strategy game Broken Arrow, which includes numerous balance adjustments.

The developers reminded that some players have been participating in the open beta testing of the update for the past three months. Initially, the creators of Broken Arrow expected the test to take a few weeks, but it ended up taking much longer, as some mechanics required additional refinement, and players continued to actively share feedback and balance suggestions. This summer update unites players:

As a result, we divided the community into two groups that were essentially playing different games. Over time, these groups became less and less compatible with each other. Some preferred PTE, some preferred the main version, but everyone agreed that neither version was perfect, and maintaining both only harmed the project.

 

Some changes and improvements:

  • Return to deck time is now displayed on the unit card.
  • Automatic weapon damage is now displayed as damage per second.
  • Added infantry animation timer when exiting transport.
  • Added low-altitude flight indicator for helicopters.
  • The delay for smoke screen activation is now shown on the unit icon.
  • Fixed a number of bugs related to multiplayer synchronization.
  • Fixed a bug where a stationary radar might not turn off when starting to move.
  • Multiple corrections made to localization texts.
  • Various balance and economy adjustments.
  • A new variation of trigger and spawn locations for “Death Highway” and “Oil Rush” has appeared.
