Changes amid a major Xbox restructuring.

After weeks of rumors and speculation, Xbox officially confirmed a major restructuring that will see the company cut 3,200 employees. In addition, some of Microsoft's internal studios will be sold or become independent again.

Although Xbox CEO Asha Sharma's address did not mention the fate of ZeniMax Media — Bethesda's parent company — Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier reported that the publisher is also facing significant changes.

According to Schreier, ZeniMax will be completely rebuilt into a model focused on developing its largest game franchises.

ZeniMax will be quite heavily affected by the restructuring. The company will move to a model where franchises are the top priority. The main focus will be on Fallout, The Elder Scrolls, Quake, Wolfenstein, and DOOM.

Thus, these five series will form the core of ZeniMax's strategy for the coming years.

One of Bethesda's main projects remains The Elder Scrolls VI. The game was announced back in 2018, but since then, the developers have shared almost no new information. According to Schreier, Bethesda and Xbox consider the sixth installment of The Elder Scrolls to be one of the company's most important projects, so the transition to a model with an emphasis on key franchises could positively affect the pace and priorities of its development.
