During a special meeting with shareholders, Pearl Abyss CEO Heo Jin Young, COO Lee Dong Won, and CFO Cho Mi Young discussed the future of Crimson Desert and the company's current achievements.
One of the main achievements was the sales of Crimson Desert — 6 million copies were sold within 83 days of its release. For a new franchise, this was a very impressive result.
In addition, the management for the first time commented in detail on the development of the Nintendo Switch 2 version. According to Heo Jin Young, the studio aims to release Crimson Desert on as many platforms as possible, and work is currently underway on a port for the Nintendo console.
However, the developers emphasize that this is not just a simple port of the game. The main task is to maintain a high level of graphics, dynamic combat system, and a massive open world without significant compromises. Currently, the Switch 2 version is already at a stage where the basic gameplay works, but the project still needs to go through optimization and technical verification stages.
Pearl Abyss also needs to evaluate cooperation with partners and ensure that the final version meets the company's internal quality standards. For this reason, the developers are not yet ready to name even approximate release dates.
The studio promised to share details as soon as confirmed information about the development progress and possible release date of Crimson Desert on Nintendo Switch 2 becomes available.
