Warner Bros. has unveiled the first trailer for Denis Villeneuve's third film in the "Dune" universe — "Dune: Part Three." The film is based on Frank Herbert's 1969 novel "Dune Messiah."
The plot unfolds 17 years after the end of the second part and tells the story of Paul Atreides confronting the consequences of the Fremen holy jihad he led, which claimed billions of lives across the galaxy. Having become Emperor Muad'Dib, Paul gradually transforms into a tyrant and a prisoner of his own prophecies, while a large-scale conspiracy brews against his rule.
The cast of the film includes Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Florence Pugh, Anya Taylor-Joy, Rebecca Ferguson, and Jason Momoa.
The world premiere of "Dune: Part Three" is scheduled for December 18, 2026. On the same day, Marvel Studios will release "Avengers: Doctor Doom," so the confrontation between the two major blockbusters is already being called one of the fiercest cinematic showdowns of the coming years. It has been dubbed "Dunezday" online — by analogy with "Barbenheimer," when Christopher Nolan's "Oppenheimer" and Mattel and Warner Bros.' "Barbie" were released on the same day.
