Just a couple of days ago, MagicX announced the discontinuation of the Mini Zero 28 due to rapidly rising RAM prices. Simultaneously, it reported that it had begun discussing the feasibility of creating a new portable console called Mini40.

Initially, it was expected to be a $49 (3748 rubles) device with an RK3566 processor, 1GB of RAM, and a 4-inch display. After receiving a lot of feedback from the community, the team concluded that the RK3566 simply wouldn't be competitive in today's market.

After an internal analysis, the developers made significant changes to the Mini40 — instead of the RK3566, MagicX proposed two versions with different processors (SoC). Both versions will still run on Linux with ports of various open-source operating systems.

The first variant received an RK3572 processor, 2GB LPDDR4 RAM, a 4-inch display with 800×480 resolution, Linux OS (ported DarkOS), stereo speakers, two SD card slots, Wi-Fi 5 + Bluetooth 5.1, and a vibration motor. During the "Early Bird" promotion, the console will cost $79 (6043 rubles, shipping not included).

The second version received an Allwinner A333 processor, 1GB DDR3 / 1866 MHz RAM, a 4-inch display with 800×480 resolution, Linux OS, stereo speakers, two SD card slots, Wi-Fi 5 + Bluetooth 5.1, and a vibration motor. During the "Early Bird" promotion, it will cost $59 (4513 rubles, shipping not included).

In addition, the team showed official renders of the Mini40 and demonstrated four possible starting color options for the console: black, orange, translucent green, and translucent magenta (purple).

According to the voting results, most users are interested in purchasing the Mini40 with the RK3572 processor and 2GB of RAM, so it's not certain that the Allwinner A333 version will even see the light of day.
