The film distribution company "Volga" has announced the Russian release date for the extended version of the horror film "Backrooms". The special edition of the film will hit domestic screens on July 9, while the original version of the film continues to play in cinemas.
The extended version will add 16 minutes of entirely new material, presented as a large post-credits scene. The additional episode does not change the structure of the original film and is a separate story in the spirit of the viral short films from the eponymous web series that Kane Parsons released on YouTube and which formed the basis of the feature-length version. With the new material, the total runtime of the film will be 2 hours and 13 minutes.
"Backrooms" has already become the highest-grossing film in A24's history. With a budget of about $10 million, the film has grossed over $350 million worldwide. In Russia and CIS countries, the horror film also shows high resilience: the total box office for the subtitled and dubbed versions has already exceeded 662 million rubles.
