The American Television Academy announced the nominees for the 78th Emmy Awards. The short film "The Pit" from the third season of the animated anthology "Star Wars: Visions" was nominated in the "Outstanding Animated Program" category.

This is the ninth episode of the third volume, which was already called the boldest, most psychedelic, experimental, and avant-garde in the entire anthology upon its release. david production studio ("JoJo's Bizarre Adventure") contributed to its creation, and Shinya Ohira, who also worked on "The Animatrix," "Akira," Mamoru Oshii's "Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence," and many other cult projects, directed it.

This is not the first Emmy nomination for "Star Wars: Visions." In 2022, the short film "The Duel" was nominated for the award, and in 2024, the episode "The Screaming Citadel" received an award for individual achievement in animation.

The third volume of the anthology was released on October 29, 2025, on Disney+. Nine Japanese animation studios, including TRIGGER, WIT Studio, Production I.G, and Kinema Citrus, participated in its creation.

The franchise is now preparing for further expansion: on August 8, 2026, the premiere of the mini-series "The Ninth Jedi" will take place, continuing the story of the episode of the same name from the first and third volumes. Kenji Kamiyama ("Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex") is the director of the project.
