At Anime Expo 2026, SEGA officially unveiled a new animated short film, Sonic the Hedgehog: Memories and Beyond, dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the iconic gaming franchise. Along with the announcement, the creators showed the first dynamic sneak peek of the project.
The short film's plot will tell the story of Dr. Eggman's new plan to transform Metal Sonic into the ultimate weapon. To do this, the villain intends to steal Sonic's data and use the energy of the Chaos Emeralds to significantly enhance the mechanical doppelganger. To defeat the empowered Metal Sonic, the main character, Amy, Knuckles, Shadow, Rouge, and Tails will have to join forces and rely on the power of friendship, proven over years of shared adventures.
The premiere of Sonic the Hedgehog: Memories and Beyond is scheduled for autumn 2026.
