After early access, which buyers of the $150 edition received on July 2, players discovered that some familiar character development settings had been removed from Dynasty and Road to Glory modes. At the same time, microtransactions appeared in the game, allowing players to accelerate the leveling of a coach or athlete for real money.

These changes caused a sharp reaction from the community and major content creators. Many accused EA of trying to hide the innovations until release. The hashtag #CFBPlayDontPay began to gain popularity on social media, and some players even canceled pre-orders for the standard edition, which was released on July 9.

The day after the peak of dissatisfaction, EA published a statement on the official forum. The developers stated that they are closely monitoring feedback on the coach progression system in Dynasty and reminded that the mode was conceived as a "long-term career arc", and the basic development requirements remained the same as in last year's version.

Nevertheless, the studio promised to change the pace of leveling in the upcoming update. Three new experience gain settings for coaches will appear in the game:

  • Casual — 1.5x experience multiplier
  • Simulation — 1.25x
  • Career — standard mode with 1.0x

EA also explained the redesign of the Road to Glory mode. Now character development is built around gaining weekly experience for on-field performance and gradually improving individual characteristics and abilities.

The developers clarified that the speed of progression depends on the chosen path: an elite five-star recruit develops faster than a two-star underdog, but the main factor remains the quality of the user's play.

Despite the details about progression, player recruitment, and position battles, EA did not comment on the appearance of microtransactions in single-player modes. The statement does not explain why these purchases were added simultaneously with the removal of some settings and why they were not announced during the summer presentations of the game.

It is the lack of an answer to the question of microtransactions that remains the main source of community dissatisfaction.
