User Game Of Tobi managed to surprise gamers and fans of portable retro devices. He presented a technical demo running a 3D version of the Minecraft sandbox on the Game Boy Color console, which was released back in 1998.
It is worth noting that this project is not a full adaptation of the original game, but serves as a kind of demonstration of hardware capabilities. The current build offers a choice between a fully generated 3D world and a flat map.

You can freely move the character, destroy the environment, place blocks, and build structures. The technical limitations of the Game Boy Color, which received an 8-bit Zilog Z80 microprocessor, 32 KB of main memory, 16 KB of video memory, and a display with a resolution of 160×144 pixels, make themselves felt.
Due to the lack of full texture support and a limited color palette, the graphics look extremely “outdated.” This version of Minecraft can even be launched on the classic Game Boy, where the image is displayed only in black and green.
Although the project is in active development, Game Of Tobi does not plan to release a full commercial version. The author intends to focus efforts on improving performance and expanding functionality.
