Production of "Naruto" Film Has Started - Lionsgate is Looking for Actors for Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura Roles
The full-length live-action adaptation of "Naruto" has entered an active pre-production phase. Lionsgate announced the start of a global casting call for the roles of Naruto Uzumaki, Sasuke Uchiha, and Sakura Haruno. Casting for other characters will open later.
The film is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, known for "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings." This confirms that after completing work on "Spider-Man: Freshman Year," the director indeed shifted his focus to the "Naruto" adaptation. On the occasion of the casting launch, Cretton addressed fans of the franchise:
"Kishimoto-sensei's stories have inspired generations of fans worldwide. It is a great honor for me to bring the world and characters he created to the big screen for the first time in a live-action format. I am incredibly excited to begin a global search for actors to play the members of Team 7 and prepare to bring the incredible 'Naruto' universe to life!"

Manga creator Masashi Kishimoto also commented on the start of casting:
"Miracles are happening one after another in my life right now. My work 'Naruto' is actually becoming a Hollywood movie! An even greater miracle is that Destin Daniel Cretton himself will be directing. I still can't believe it! Since so many miracles have already come together, let's hope for more. I look forward to amazing encounters that will bring talented and passionate actors to the project. I already want to see my characters in the movie!"
The film is expected to premiere no earlier than 2028. The exact release date has not yet been announced.
