"Spider-Man: A New Day" Aims for $250 Million Opening Weekend in North America - Analysts Raise Expectations

News 0

Boxoffice Pro analysts have sharply raised their forecast for the opening weekend gross of "Spider-Man: A New Day." Previously, experts expected the blockbuster to earn between $180 million and $190 million in its debut weekend in North America – now the film is projected to take in $230-250 million.

Boxoffice Pro's new estimate also aligns more closely with other analysts' predictions. Previously, Box Office Theory specialists suggested that the film's opening gross in the domestic market would reach $228 million, and approximately $550 million worldwide in its first weekend.

Nevertheless, despite the increased lower bound of the forecast, analysts do not yet believe that "A New Day" will be able to break the record of "Spider-Man: No Way Home," which grossed $260 million in North America in its opening weekend in December 2021. The main reason cited is the absence of IMAX theaters for the first two weeks of release: all screens in North America will be occupied by Christopher Nolan's "Odyssey" until August 14.
