Rumors about the "X-Men" reboot and the upcoming seventh phase of the MCU are gaining momentum.

According to well-known insider MyTimeToShineHello, Marvel Studios is considering Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson for the role of Apocalypse (En Sabah Nur). The insider did not specify in which project the character might appear, but it is assumed that the villain will debut in the upcoming "X-Men" reboot from "Thunderbolts" director Jake Schreier.

For the actor himself, this role could be a second chance to establish himself in superhero cinema. Johnson had hoped to turn Black Adam into one of the central characters of the DC universe, but these plans collapsed after the arrival of James Gunn and Peter Safran, who launched a large-scale franchise reboot.

There is no official release date for the new "X-Men" yet. In the spring of 2026, Schreier brought in "Beef" creator Lee Sung Jin and series writer Joanna Calo to work on the script. According to unconfirmed reports, filming could begin soon, with a premiere expected in 2028.
