Rumor: Xbox to Allow Trading Discs for Digital Game Versions
Microsoft is rumored to be preparing a feature called Project Positron, which would allow Xbox owners to trade supported disc versions of games for digital licenses tied to their account.
Rumors have emerged around the next Xbox Insider program update, which Microsoft has not yet confirmed. The focus is on a possible feature that should simplify life for owners of physical Xbox game copies.
The discussions were sparked by a post from Brad Rossetti, who reported that Xbox Insider participants did not receive the usual update this week because the team is preparing something that is “worth the wait.” Soon after, journalist Jez Corden published a short but significant message: “Positron is coming.” This again drew attention to Project Positron.
According to previous leaks, the system will allow trading supported disc versions of games for digital licenses tied to a Microsoft account. If confirmed, this could become one of the most notable Xbox innovations in the current generation.
It is assumed that Project Positron will bridge the gap between physical and digital distribution, maintaining the convenience of digital purchases without completely abandoning discs.
