Ubisoft names the main threat to games in 2026 - and it's not bugs
In its annual report, Ubisoft named an ill-chosen release window - whether it's an early launch, competition with other major events, or excessive delays - as one of the main threats to game success in 2026.
Sometimes the main problem for a game is not the budget, technology, or player reviews, but an ill-chosen release date. This is what Ubisoft highlighted in its new annual report.
In the 356-page document, the company named an incorrectly chosen release window as one of the key threats. This refers to both an overly early release, when the project is not yet polished enough, and a launch simultaneously with major AAA new releases, important technological announcements, large-scale updates to popular games, or other major industry events.
At the same time, Ubisoft notes the opposite problem: excessive delays can lead to a loss of audience interest and the game risks becoming outdated.
In the report, the company also stated its intention to pay more attention to player interests, the development of its franchises, and long-term audience engagement.
