"Supergirl" to End Global Run with $130 Million - Analysts Lower Already Pessimistic Forecasts

Box office forecasts for the comic book movie "Supergirl" have sharply deteriorated after a disastrous third weekend. While analysts previously suggested the film could reach $200-210 million, the expected final box office ceiling has now dropped to $130 million worldwide.

In its third weekend in North America, the film earned only $3.56 million, plummeting another 58.6% compared to the previous week. Against this backdrop, cinemas began massively reducing screenings, pulling the film from over a thousand theaters. Currently, "Supergirl's" domestic box office stands at $66 million, and its global gross has reached approximately $115 million.

Additional pressure on the release comes from rumors of an imminent digital release. According to media reports, Warner Bros. plans to release the film digitally as early as July 28 to cut further losses, although DC Studios has not yet officially confirmed this information.

If the new forecasts prove true, "Supergirl" will not even surpass "Shazam! Fury of the Gods" ($134 million) and will end its run at approximately the same level as "Blue Beetle" ($130 million). At the same time, the film will remain far behind "The Marvels" ($206 million), which is considered Marvel's most unprofitable project due to its enormous budget of $307 million.

The total production and marketing costs for "Supergirl" are estimated at approximately $290 million. Earlier, analysts predicted losses for Warner Bros. in the range of $100-120 million, but these calculations were based on a final box office of around $200 million. If the film ends its run with $130 million, the studio's actual financial losses could be even higher.
