Publisher tinyBuild and Hypnohead studio have announced the console release date for the strategy game The King is Watching. The game will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and Nintendo Switch on July 29.
The King is Watching combines elements of kingdom building and a roguelike. Players must defend their castle from increasingly powerful waves of enemies, develop the economy, and wisely allocate resources. The main feature of the project is its unusual control mechanic: buildings only function when the king's gaze is directed at them. For example, peasants only begin to harvest under the ruler's close supervision, and if attention is diverted to other matters, production stops.
For successful kingdom development, it is necessary to build production chains, extract rare materials, trade resources, and study ancient magic. This will allow unlocking more powerful buildings, strengthening the army, and reinforcing defenses.
Knights, archers, and mages capable of using spells against advancing enemies are responsible for defending the castle. The developers also promise unusual creatures, including dragons, which can be "produced" during the game.
