Modders decided to update the game on their own, and there are certain successes.
In July, the developers of the Heroes 5 Reborn project once again reminded about themselves. They presented a new development diary, in which they talked about their successes in porting Heroes of Might & Magic V to the modern Unreal Engine 5.
Over the past months, modders have achieved "good progress" not only in developing core (key) mechanics but also in filling the game with content. At this stage, they have added "almost all the content" they would like to see in the first test version. It will include 4 factions, as well as most of the magic, artifacts, abilities, and skills.
The spellbook for Heroes 5 Reborn has already been completed, and now tooltips show the calculated damage or effect of a spell, taking into account all modifiers, as well as a list of these modifiers. This information will also be displayed when opening the book on the global map.
Advanced unit placement logic before battle has been implemented with quick actions for army management, including separating single units on the placement field with one click.
In addition, modders have implemented a battle log widget and noted that the ATB scale widget has become interactive, received animations, and the ability to scroll with the mouse wheel.
The authors of Heroes 5 Reborn have already begun work on adding the Necropolis and Sylvan factions to the game.
Among the project creators' further plans:
- Complete work on the Necropolis and Sylvan factions
- Work on the visual component of the game
- Develop the remaining key mechanics, refine the interface, fix bugs
