According to Deadline, Ryan Hurst, who played Kratos in the God of War series, suffered a serious injury directly on set in Vancouver. While performing one of the complex stunts, the actor tore his biceps. Hurst has already undergone surgery and is now recovering, but rehabilitation will take four to six months, and full recovery up to a year.
Such a long downtime, as the publication notes, turned out to be incompatible with the filming schedule, so Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios made the difficult decision to replace the lead actor.
Filming for God of War began in February in Vancouver. By the time of the incident, the team had managed to complete four episodes, which will now have to be reshot with a new actor playing Kratos. Preparations for resuming production are planned to begin in mid-August, and filming itself should continue in October. The name of the new actor playing Kratos has not yet been disclosed.
