The Critics Choice Association has announced the television nominees for the sixth annual Critics Choice Super Awards. This year, Amazon's "The Boys" leads among series with five nominations. The project is vying for Best Superhero Series, and Antony Starr could win awards for Best Actor and his portrayal of Homelander. Valorie Curry and Colby Minifie, in turn, are nominated for Best Actresses.
Fallout follows with four nominations. The adaptation of Bethesda games is featured in the "Best Superhero Series" category, which includes not only superhero projects but also comic book and video game adaptations. Critics specifically recognized Walton Goggins, Annabel O'Hagan, and Macaulay Culkin.
Among the competitors for Fallout and "The Boys" are "Gen V," "Invincible," "Peacemaker," "Spider-Noir," and "Wonder Man." Nicholas Cage, John Cena, Hamish Linklater, and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II also received nominations for Best Actor. Additionally, Brendan Gleeson from "Spider-Noir" will compete with Antony Starr and Macaulay Culkin from Fallout for Best Television Villain.
Among science fiction and fantasy series, "House of the Dragon" leads with four nominations. Matt Smith and Emma D'Arcy are nominated for acting awards, and Ewan Mitchell was recognized for his role as Aemond Targaryen.
"Alien: Earth" and "A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms" each received three nominations. Along with the series themselves, critics highlighted Timothy Olyphant, Sydney Chandler, Peter Claffey, and Dexter Sol Ansell. "For All Mankind" and "Star Trek: Strange New Worlds" are also in the main category. "Star Trek: Starfleet Academy" received two more nominations for the roles of Holly Hunter and Paul Giamatti.
Among horror series, "It: Welcome to Derry" and "Wednesday" each received two nominations. Both projects are vying for Best Horror Series, and Taylor Paige and Jenna Ortega are nominated in the acting category.
