In May of this year, ZA/UM, previously known for Disco Elysium, released the project Zero Parades: For Dead Spies. The new title garnered some attention, but game sales were insufficient.
In July, the studio issued a statement announcing layoffs:
Despite Zero Parades: For Dead Spies receiving high critical acclaim, its commercial performance did not allow us to sustain the studio at its current size. We have announced layoffs and potential redundancies that may affect up to 32 employees across various departments at ZA/UM. Their work has had a significant impact on the studio as a whole and left its mark on Zero Parades: For Dead Spies.
ZA/UM is currently consulting with the union to support the affected employees. The studio has urged industry colleagues to take notice and consider offering new jobs to the developers.
Zero Parades: For Dead Spies received 83 out of 100 points on Metacritic. On Steam, the game has "very positive" reviews, with an 83% rating after more than two thousand reviews.
