The Rise of the Golden Idol was released in November 2024 on PC, PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and smartphones. The mobile edition was part of the Netflix Games subscription, but later, in June 2025, the service began mass removal of third-party projects from its catalog. Now, publisher Playstack has brought the game back to iOS and Android as a standalone release – it can be purchased on the App Store and Google Play for 329 rubles.
The Rise of the Golden Idol is a standalone sequel to The Case of the Golden Idol. The action takes place in the 1970s, approximately 200 years after the events of the first part, when the Golden Idol has already become a half-forgotten legend. Players will have to investigate 20 strange cases related to murders, cults, scientific experiments, parapsychology, and large corporations. Each scene must be carefully studied, collecting names, objects, and other clues, and then reconstructing the sequence of events and the motives of the participants.
The new version fully corresponds to the PC and console editions, but the developers from Color Gray Games warned that owners of the Netflix version will have to purchase the game again. The studio also cannot guarantee the transfer of saves due to privacy restrictions. In some cases, progress may automatically load from the cloud, but most players will likely have to start the investigation anew.
