Director of "Spider-Man: New Day" Reveals How Marvel's Spider-Man Games Influenced the New Peter Parker Film

The Marvel's Spider-Man series of games from Insomniac Games served as inspiration for some scenes in the film "Spider-Man: New Day." Director Destin Daniel Cretton revealed this in an interview with Polygon.

"I'm not a gamer, although I did play the game, but I was surrounded by avid gamers. Many members of our stunt department loved these projects. They would take screenshots while playing, bring them in, and ask, 'Can we replicate this trick?' The games became a great source of inspiration for us."

Cretton did not disclose which specific game moments the team brought to the screen – viewers will have to find that out for themselves.

The action scenes were also handled by Jackie Chan's stunt team, who previously collaborated with Cretton on the film "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings." Jackie Chan himself visited the set in London but did not directly participate in the film's creation.

"Spider-Man: New Day" is set to be released on July 31, 2026. Alongside Tom Holland, the film will feature Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Mark Ruffalo, Jon Bernthal, and Sadie Sink.
