Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis Developers Explain How the New Lara Differs from the Original

Crystal Dynamics and Flying Wild Hog have released a new development diary for Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis. The focus is on one of the game's main features — completely reworked animations and movements for Lara Croft.

In the fourth installment, the developers showed new gameplay fragments and discussed the creation of the updated version of Lara Croft. Actress Alix Wilton Regan, who voices Lara, also participated in the video. The authors demonstrated how the animations changed during development and why they decided to seriously rework the character's movements.

In the video, Lara performs acrobatic stunts, jumps, climbs, swims, dodges attacks, and smoothly transitions between various actions. According to the developers, their goal is to preserve the spirit of the original Tomb Raider from 1996, so that the controls and animations meet modern standards.

Although the creators emphasize that Legacy of Atlantis will not be a classic remake, the game offers a new interpretation of the events of the first part. The release is scheduled for February 12, 2027, on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2.
