The Creator of The Witness Prepares Ambitious Puzzle Game with a Thousand Riddles, Order of the Sinking Star

Thekla studio unveiled Order of the Sinking Star, a puzzle game with over 1000 interconnected riddles across multiple worlds, set to release by the end of 2026.

Thekla studio, known for the puzzle game The Witness, has officially unveiled a new game, Order of the Sinking Star. Jonathan Blow is leading the development of the project.

The game will be released on PS5 by the end of 2026 and will offer over 1000 hand-crafted, interconnected puzzles spread across several distinct worlds. The gameplay combines a top-down view and an isometric camera. Exploring locations will be just as important as solving riddles.

Many puzzles are based on observing the behavior of objects and their interactions. Players will be able to freely explore the world, encountering challenges that initially seem unsolvable. Gradually mastering game mechanics and gaining new knowledge will be one of the key elements of progression.

Jonathan Blow published a detailed article about the project on the official PlayStation blog. According to him, the game has been in development for several years.

Order of the Sinking Star is scheduled for release in late 2026. The game will also be released on PC and Nintendo Switch 2.
